I love to think about exercise, burning calories, and indoor boot camp less than…
I like to think about being chased by a pack of bears. Do bears even run in packs?
Let’s watch the Discovery Channel to find out!
If it was up to me, I’d prefer to integrate fun, calorie-burning activities into my daily routine to help me drop weight fast.
I would much rather do a fun activity and reap the benefits…
Without being cooped up in a gym all day. Oh, sure, I’ll go jogging and do some yoga, but I’m not a lover of exercise.
In fact, when someone tells me they love to exercise, I picture myself in a fierce dance battle with him or her set to the tune of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.”
I know, I know…there are so many benefits that exercise offers and I should love it, but I just can’t seem to appreciate the gym environment.
Let’s take a closer look at the benefits.
10 great reasons to exercise:
1) Boost Your Self Esteem
Engaging in regular exercise will build your confidence. Soon, you’ll see that you are a lot stronger, fitter, and more capable than you thought you were.
2) Get glowing skin
Your skin may clear up after just a few weeks of working out. Not only will exercise help balance hormones and lower inflammation, it will also allow your pores to open up and release oil and bacteria through sweat. Just be sure to use a good organic exfoliating scrub after your workouts to ensure you thoroughly cleanse your pores of dirt, sebum, and bacteria.
3) Improve Your Circulation
Not only will your skin glow with regular exercise, your circulation will improve.
4) Lower Anxiety
Sitting every day and dealing with the stress of your job can build stress and anxiety over time. About one in five people experience anxiety. Our sedentary, stressful culture is wrecking our bodies and minds. Exercise offers so much relief for stress and anxiety.
5) Increase Immunity
If you’re worried about people sneezing around you during flu season, one of the best lines of defense could be exercise. You’ll stimulate your body to increase white blood cells, which protect against bacteria, viruses, and other invaders.
6) Help Naturally Detox Your Body
With increased circulation, your body will be able to better flush out waste from your lymphatic system.
7) Eradicate Insomnia
Stress can fatigue your adrenal glands and overload your body with stress hormones. Exercise will assist with releasing the stress and channel it toward its proper evolutionary purpose.
Your body will quickly realize that it’s ok to turn off at night and get some solid rest.
8) Decrease Organ Fat
We all know exercise will work to decrease body fat percentage, but it will also reduce the fat around internal organs. This fat leads to various diseases and by breaking down this fat, you’ll decrease your risk of developing health problems.
9) Lead To Better Sex
Exercise can work to bring your sex hormones to normal levels. Not only will your hormones be more balanced, your desire for sex will likely increase because you’ll be feeling sexier than ever.
10) Improve Digestion
Increased blood flow in your body from exercise will also help regulate your digestion. If you find yourself suffering from gas, cramping or constipation, workouts can help alleviate these symptoms and improve regularity.
Okay you’re convinced.
You know exercise comes with LOTS of benefits, but you dislike traditional exercise?
Well, I’ve got great news for you!
You don’t have to force yourself to lift weights at the gym, work up a sweat on a piece of boring cardio equipment, or look like a goof in the back of a fitness class.
There are plenty of other fun ways to burn calories!
Here are 5 Super Fun Ways to Drop Weight Fast!
Number One – Beach volleyball
At 500 calories burned an hour, this is a real calorie scorcher.
What’s not to love?
There’s the sand, the camaraderie, the competition, and you can drink beer afterward (hopefully Dr. Sara didn’t read that last part).
It’s also a pretty chill atmosphere.
Plus, you can play some Kenny Loggins’ “Playing With The Boys” and reenact the best part of “Top Gun”!
Number Two – Dancing to music at home or in a club
This can burn between 200-400 calories an hour depending on how fierce you’re workin’ it.
Who doesn’t love listening to their favorite songs while busting out their best moves?
I literally can’t sit still when I hear “Applause” by Lady Gaga. I have invented a whole dance routine centered on strategic clapping and glamorous staring.
In reality, I realize that I look like someone having seizures, but in my apartment I am the Queen of Dance and no one can stop me!
Number Three – Walking to the nearest café
Even walking at a slow pace for a mile, you can burn roughly 80 calories.
Start listening to a podcast and you’ll be there before you know it.
Try walking to your destination if you live in a city. If not, try to make a habit of going on walks before or after work. This lets you unwind, have some time to yourself, and catch up on podcasts.
How awesome that you can learn new things while you walk!
Number Four – Singing
You can burn about 40 calories in 20 minutes by belting out your favorite songs.
Assign yourself bonus calories burned if you find yourself uncontrollably kicking in the rhythm of a chorus line while singing “New York, New York”.
Number Five – Laughing
If you laugh for a solid 10 minutes, you can shed 40 calories.
So DVRing your favorite comedies for a night of laughs is virtually like a trip to the gym, right?
Combine laughing and walking for a real calorie torcher, or if you just want to look like a crazy cat lady on the loose.
BONUS – Having passionate sex (even not-so-great sex will do)
Better yet, laugh while you’re having sex. Heated love-making can burn about 150 calories in 30 minutes.
So, if you don’t want to go to the gym, make sexy eyes at your partner and slap your belly. Not only will getting it on help you burn calories, slapping your belly will surely make the two of you laugh.
